The preparation for the grand alumni homecoming this December is indeed very taxing. There are lots of works to be done, lots of things to consider. Believe me, it’s not a walk in the park.

But I didn’t say it isn’t fun, in fact, it is fun! Very, very fun!

That is especially true when you have batch mate John Jack Wigley in attendance.

During the last meeting of the programme committee chaired my Manny Ocampo, and Jack is one of the member, we were rolling on the floor laughing, as he delivered his perfect impersonation of some of our high school teachers – impromptu!

And guess who he has chosen to impersonate, our religion teachers from first year to fourth year high school! Do you still remember your religion teachers? If not, then watch this video, and I’m sure you will recognize them through Jack’s actions.

To our teachers, this is all for fun. Please don’t get mad at us… it was only Jack on the video anyway, you may want to spare us (peace Jack).

To our batchmates, this is just some of the things you are missing when you don’t attend the meetings. I hope you will attend next time.

Here’s an interesting note, our batch mate is himself now a teacher in a prestigious university in Manila, so there is a possibility that he is also being mimicked by his students when he is not around. But no worries, he can live with that.

And to Jack, do consider stand up comedy as a second career. You’re a natural!

For these past months, I’ve been writing here about our different activities, developments, plans and call for support as we trek the road towards the grand alumni homecoming this December.

You’ve seen the disco party, the badminton tournament, and schedules of meetings and other events – featuring our batch, the Primemovers 85.

We, the Primemovers are proud and honored to be the host of this year’s alumni homecoming. But putting the HAU High School Batch ’85 up front and center of this grandiose celebration would mean an absolute failure on our part.

We want this to be a homecoming wherein the main focus of the celebration will be the alumni who will attend the event.

Because the homecoming is more than just a Primemovers thing.

It is all about Angelites paying homage to where it all started… it’s all about all alumni as far back as 1933 and last year’s high school graduates, wanting to relive those moments with former classmates, friends, and peers… it’s all about coming home… it’s all about being an Angelite.

As such, this blog is open to all the alumni of Holy Angel University.

If you have an important announcement to make – your batch’s preparation for the homecoming, meetings and events, please feel free to contact yours truly and I’ll be more than willing share a page with you on this blog, so other Angelites may be aware of what’s happening with the different batches as well.

In behalf of our batchmates, from the officers down to the members, rest assured we are doing everything to make this homecoming a memorable one.

Yes, we are the Primemovers… but first and foremost, we are Angelites, and we enjoin all other Angelites… let us all come home to our Alma Mater… let us all go back to where we started…

Six months quickly came to pass, and we are now on the second half of the year. And with barely 5 months to go before the Grand Alumni Homecoming, the question is “Are we there yet?” Are we prepared? Is everything already settled?

Hardly. There are still a lot of works to be done.

For someone who is outside and looking in, it is easy to say that there is really nothing being done. But believe me, the Board and concerned members are doing their best to make this alumni homecoming a successful one.

But like I said, there are still a lot of works, and I mean LOT OF WORKS to be done. And this post is an appeal to everyone to step up, be concerned, be counted. We need all the help we can get.

People, finance, logistics, talents, and yes, even just being a jester to help relieve the stress brought about by all the works, is a big help.

Surely, you can think of something that you can contribute to the success of the homecoming. And many of those does not really need you to shell out some money. So ‘No Money’ is not an excuse,

So if you have been hesitating all this time, thinking that there is nothing you can do to help, think again! There are a lot of things that you can do.

You can start by being there. Attend meetings and events. You will see how much you can help, and feel how fulfilling it can be.

If the reception on the annual Primemovers’ gathering last July 10 is of any indication, I can say that we are on the right track.

We can do it, if we all join hands.

As promised, it was a night of 80’s music, with hit songs from Madonna, Tears For Fears, Michael Jackson, and other icons from the most colorful decade of music, playing all night long.

We arrive as early as 8:00 p.m. in order to set up for the registration. Party people started arriving at 9:00 p.m., pouring in until the wee hour of 1 a.m.

It didn’t take long for the crowd to warm up to the music and the venue, as they soon started dancing while reminiscing the “years that was” through the music that was playing. And yes, our batch mates still have the endurance… and the knee, to withstand long hours of dancing.

To sum it up, it was enjoyable night of dancing to the music of our times.

Congratulations PrimeMovers for a very successful event! Let us keep the momentum going – ONWARDS TO A SUCCESSFUL HOMECOMING!

We would like to invite all badminton enthusiasts, take part in this exciting event and meet new friends.

We started at the same time our Alma Mater, Holy Angel, was elevated to a university status in 1981. The years that follow saw us trek the path towards a more meaningful life.

Through our journey, however, we cannot say that we took a smooth ride. It was not an easy one and neither can we say we were always at our best… but one thing’s for sure… it was a memorable journey, and we had fun.

During our sophomore years, E.T. came teaching us about love and acceptance… especially of those who seem to be different from us. It was also in 1982 when the late Michael Jackson started his journey towards greatness, as he launched his bestselling album Thriller.

We, on the other hand continue to shape our destiny, as many our batch mates took the route to becoming a junior officer of the then Citizen Army Training (CAT), while some took the scouting route and became members of Boys Scouts of the Philippines and Girls Scout of the Philippines. The rest of us were contented in attending our Physical Education classes because we took neither of the two routes.

Our junior year was a memorable one, not only to our batch but to the whole country as well. It was in August 21, 1983 when Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino was assassinated at the then Manila International Airport. A death that gave rise to the uprising of the Filipino people, which eventually led to the first People Power in 1986.

We continue in our journey… more friendships were strengthened… more memories were made.

And finally, our senior years came. While Aga Mulach, William Martinez and the rest of the gang were strutting their stuff in the Bagets, we were more than willing to dress up like them and be their local counterparts. It was also in 1984 that Menudomania in the Philippines was as its peak.

Saturdays then would see us at the center of the university oval, sweating it out under the sun while wearing our fatigue uniforms. It was a very taxing activity, but there’s nothing we can do because it was a requirement. But we have to admit, memories in those training days are worth looking back to.

As we took our final vow and say goodbye to high school life in 1985, we can only thank our friends, classmates, our teachers, and our beloved Alma Mater for all the beautiful memories, and the learnings that will serve as our guide as we continue our journeys in life.

This year, we have a chance to:
- Reminisce and bring back all the good times; and
- Give back to our Alma Mater as our way of thanking her for guiding us all those years.

This year, we will be part and write our story once more, in the pages of the Holy Angel University history as we host the annual Grand Alumni Homecoming.

We, graduates of Holy Angel University, class of 1985, will be at the forefront of this year’s homecoming welcoming everyone who comes home this December.

We are the Primemovers… and this is our time.

Make yourself a part of this milestone year in our batch and join in the preparations for making the homecoming a successful one.

No part is too big or too small. We’re all in this together. We can all contribute… we all can help.

Yes, the Grand Alumni Homecoming extends beyond borders!

Definitely, Primemovers based in the USA won’t be left behind in the action. That is why this early, Batchmate Hector Solomon made an announcement on Facebook inviting all Primemovers to attend a get-together on September 25th of this year in Las Vegas.

It will be great opportunity to catch up with former classmates and friends. I know, there are a lot of HAU HS Batch 85 graduates based in the USA, so I’m sure it will be one grand, exciting get-together.

This get-together is all part of the preparation of the HAU HS Batch 85’s preparation for the upcoming Grand Alumni Homecoming we will be hosting on December 30.

I salute Primemovers USA, who in spite of the distance, are active in the preparation as they  gather all our batchmates and help us in making hosting of this year’s homecoming a success.

So  mark your calendar – September 25, 2010, the grand get-together of Primemovers USA in Las Vegas!

Details of the get-together will be announced in the days to come.

Now, some of you may ask, “What about us here in the Philippines?”

To which I would reply, “I’m glad you asked? Please do attend our regular meetings to keep yourself updated. For sure, we will have some activities to co-celebrate the event with our USA counterparts.”

Counting down that is.

February is almost over, and that means we only have ten months until the grand alumni homecoming.

Too little a time to prepare for such a grandiose event, but with teamwork it can be done.

Yes, it is a big task, but it is NOT impossible.

It is not too late to come and extend your valuable time, talent, and treasure for the success of this year’s homecoming – not only for the batch, for the whole alumni association as well.

So please, attend the meetings and keep yourself posted on the latest developments of the preparation for the big event.

This goes to all alumni, the homecoming is not just a Primemovers thing. This is for the whole alumni, this is for our alma mater.

And to all our friends overseas, we would love to hear your thoughts… what are your plans, your actions, and your progress as well, because I’m sure, just like us who are busy preparing here, you are also doing some preparations for our grand homecoming at your end.

Let us all move in unison for the success of this event. We can make it happen.
