We are the Primemovers

We started at the same time our Alma Mater, Holy Angel, was elevated to a university status in 1981. The years that follow saw us trek the path towards a more meaningful life.

Through our journey, however, we cannot say that we took a smooth ride. It was not an easy one and neither can we say we were always at our best… but one thing’s for sure… it was a memorable journey, and we had fun.

During our sophomore years, E.T. came teaching us about love and acceptance… especially of those who seem to be different from us. It was also in 1982 when the late Michael Jackson started his journey towards greatness, as he launched his bestselling album Thriller.

We, on the other hand continue to shape our destiny, as many our batch mates took the route to becoming a junior officer of the then Citizen Army Training (CAT), while some took the scouting route and became members of Boys Scouts of the Philippines and Girls Scout of the Philippines. The rest of us were contented in attending our Physical Education classes because we took neither of the two routes.

Our junior year was a memorable one, not only to our batch but to the whole country as well. It was in August 21, 1983 when Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino was assassinated at the then Manila International Airport. A death that gave rise to the uprising of the Filipino people, which eventually led to the first People Power in 1986.

We continue in our journey… more friendships were strengthened… more memories were made.

And finally, our senior years came. While Aga Mulach, William Martinez and the rest of the gang were strutting their stuff in the Bagets, we were more than willing to dress up like them and be their local counterparts. It was also in 1984 that Menudomania in the Philippines was as its peak.

Saturdays then would see us at the center of the university oval, sweating it out under the sun while wearing our fatigue uniforms. It was a very taxing activity, but there’s nothing we can do because it was a requirement. But we have to admit, memories in those training days are worth looking back to.

As we took our final vow and say goodbye to high school life in 1985, we can only thank our friends, classmates, our teachers, and our beloved Alma Mater for all the beautiful memories, and the learnings that will serve as our guide as we continue our journeys in life.

This year, we have a chance to:
- Reminisce and bring back all the good times; and
- Give back to our Alma Mater as our way of thanking her for guiding us all those years.

This year, we will be part and write our story once more, in the pages of the Holy Angel University history as we host the annual Grand Alumni Homecoming.

We, graduates of Holy Angel University, class of 1985, will be at the forefront of this year’s homecoming welcoming everyone who comes home this December.
